Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

For those of you who have read Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer I doubt very much I have to tell you how amazing they are, you probably already know. For those of you who haven't read her books however, there are no adequiate words to describe what it is you're missing.
Not only do her books have hot vampires in them, romance that bites you and holds on, but she has also constructed charachters who are so life-like, so human that not connecting with each of them on some level is impossible. This is especially true of Bella, the protagonist of the books. Bella is the epitome of normal, she's average, sure, she's unique in many ways, but she's accident prone, she makes you laugh, and she's one of the most well woven characters I've ever read. She's easy to connect with, to feel as though you were her, not because she's amazing in some way, but because she's just like your everyday person, she's just like you and me.
Now, what are great characters without a plot? Don't worry, Twilight has that too. Sure, it's a romance but what's a romance without a few good twists. Admitedly, the second book in the series, New Moon, makes you want to stranggle someone or break something, but it too is all an intricate part of the plot, even if you only end up a few steps further.
All in all I would recomend Twilight to anyone, whether you like the fantast genre or not, whether you're thirteen of sixty, Twilight and New Moon are stunning books that'll keep you up until the waking hours just so you can finish them.

Taste of Fire or Taste of Failure?

I'm sure that if it's your first time reading a Sesshomaru/Kagome fanfic then A Taste of Fire by Silver_Dog_Demon found on A Single Spark might make the cut. However, if your a veteran reader of fanfiction I doubt you'll like this one. A Taste of Fire...how can I describe it? Personally I find the charachter to be one-dimentional and far too cliche for my liking. They have no personality, they're just the below-average, Kagome who has a huge heart, Inuyasha who's the jerk, and Sesshomaru the silent and cold.
I know, these are some of their most defining characteristics, but please, there's more to the charachters than just one thing, it's like watching one scene repeat itself over and over. Not to mention Sesshomaru doesn't even appear to be in charachter for all the author made him silent and cold, but really, where's the dynamicy? I can't help but to think that Inuyasha is being used as a foil for Sesshomaru...only, it isn't working.
Now, I will admit that I've only read the first two chapters, but honestly, they're long, and if the fic hasn't caught my attention by then chances are I won't like it. The grammar is fairly brutal. yes, I know, editing your own work is hell, and even I have my off days or forget, but at the very least keep the tense the same. Reading A Taste of Fire hurt my brain, the flow of the story was choppy, characters kept popping up for no apparent reason, I mean, Rin suddenly stumbles intot heir camp because she thought it was hers (not to mention everyone is okay with this) and then Sesshomaru comes in, but he lets her stay the night and there's maybe one harsh word between him and Inuyasha?
Don't even get me started on Kouga. And the deux ex machina1...my goodness people, please! There can only be some many of them in one chapter. I mean really, Kagome falls and is clinging to the side of a cliff but Kirara can't fly down to get her because, somewhere along the line that we haven't even been told of she was attacked by a badger youkai and has wounds. Hmm...so, Kirara is fine in the two paragraphs before this sudden fall, but she obtained wounds from somewhere along the line. Yes, raise your hand if this makes sense. I didn't think so.
But still, A Taste of Fire does have a few good points, at least, I'm hoping it does since it has an overal rating of 9.11. Let me know if you find any, because, as of now, I can't. I can't even make myself finish this fanfic, maybe it gets better in the later chapters, I don't know, but if you're like me and you need a fic to catch your attention fairly early on then I wouldn't suggest readign this one.

Chapter 2 of Incomplete by Langus

Chapter 2 of Incomplete had a very nice flow to it. Langus is a very descriptive author, which, in this case is a good thing. Chapter 2 moved at about the same pase as the first chapter, all-be-it a little slower. And yet, even though this fic is rather fast paced Langus pulls it off very well, it keeps your attention once it grabs you, and the characters seem very dinamic, they aren't just static charachters that kiss or argue for no apparent reason.

Fanfic -Incomplete by Langus-

I just finished reading the first chapter of a fanfiction called Incomplete writen by Langus. You can find it on A Single Spark if you want to.
Here are the basics first:
It's canon.
NC-17.
Romance.
Incomplete: 33 chapters so far.
The first chapter is pretty good. It's well writen and it gives you quite a bit of detail, grammar is fine. Now, while it is detailed and, even thought it's onyl the first chapter it appears to have a well-thought out plot that will go somewhere, it is perhaps a little hard to get into. The reason being that for the first little while it almost feels detatched, like you can't get in there and feel connected with the charchters. But not to worry, that problem remedies itself fairly early on in the fic.
This one doesn't take forever to actually get somewhere int he plot, it starts off right in the fray of things so we'll see how it goes. It actually moves quite fast, so if you like at least a little bit of build up before there's interaction between Sesshomaru and Kagome then this fic may not be for you, however, it does start of with action, which, can be quite a turn on for some.
Alright, well that's it for the first chapter, now I'm off to read the rest and see if this fic lives up to it's 9.85 overall score.
